I actually take care never to use the word "amazing!", but this is exactly what this place is. I have been here many times as a guest, weeks at a time, sometimes, at any time of the year. It's amazingly beautiful, amazingly tranquil, amazingly mystical. Anything else you wish for is only minutes away: a refreshing rock pool for a dip, villages for groceries or pizza or a drink, culture, the yearly truffle festival, neighbours, .... A paradise for dogs, too!

Castel Vecchio – when I heard that my friends would give up this jewel of a residence in the heart of beautiful Marche I was stunned. Over the years I had visited there a few times – and to me this house was an absolutely unique home, a place to let body, soul, and mind relax, refresh! I was always fascinated by the very meticulous conservation of the thick natural stone walls – which make for a wonderful climate in the sweltering summer months!
The location, at the top of quite an hill, is absolutely majestic – with a beautiful view to the valley with the river Auro. And across the countryside and the mountainous forests of this part of the Marche. The clear and uncontaminated Auro has, nearby, small waterfalls and beautiful pools where we could cool down in the hot days of summer with the kids. Or just sit along the banks of the stream, listening to the continuous sound of the water flowing between the stones – as it overcomes a series of small jumps!
In summary: being at Castel Vecchio was, for me, always this wonderful mixture of a serene and peaceful location together with easy access to a simple but genuine local culture found in the nearby villages.
